The Oakland A's confirmed Thursday that they have signed designated hitter Khris Davis to a contract extension. Here's what we know based on reporting from reporting from the Chronicle's Susan Slusser.
- The deal is worth $16.75 million annually over two seasons.
- The deal runs through 2021, providing a raise from the one year, $16.5 million he earns for this season.
- Davis said during talks he "never hid the fact" that he wanted to stay in Oakland because the fans and teammates make him feel like family.
- Billy Beane described Davis as, "one of the most beloved players to have worn an A's uniform." in a statement about the deal.
- General Manager David Forst and Manager Bob Melvin are expected to Join Davis for a press conference Friday celebrating the deal.
